As an Aveeno Ambassador, I receive Aveeno products to try out and tell you about. But all opinions are my own, despite the free products.

My latest batch of products contained one of my very favorite Aveeno products. I don’t know about you, but I get a little lazy at night. Dinner’s cooked and I’m shutting down. Having a container of AVEENO® CLEAR COMPLEXION DAILY CLEANSING PADS in my bathroom means cleansing my face is going to be easy peasy! They are pre-moistened so you can start washing immediately. One side is slightly more textured so you can doing a little gentle exfoliation if you need it. Toss the pad in the trash, rinse, and you can be on your way!

Here are the details:

  • Improves skin tone and texture
  • Lifts away dirt, oil and makeup
  • Dual-textured pads
  • Pre-moistened, self-foaming pads lather on contact
  • Unique round shape and larger than average size
  • Oil-free, alcohol-free and soap-free

I also received AVEENO® CLEAR COMPLEXION FOAMING CLEANSER. I love this stuff. It’s so light and seems to cleanse my face just enough. I don’t leave the shower feeling my face has been tightened or over washed. Plus, it leaves my skin feeling slightly moisturized. My dry skin problems seem to be increasing daily, so any little bit helps! This offers enough comfort until I can get to my regular moisturizer.

Here are the details:

  • Leaves skin clear, smooth and even-looking
  • Removes dirt and oil
  • Oil-free, soap-free and clean-rinsing
  • Hypoallergenic and gentle enough for sensitive skin

The third thing is AVEENO® CLEAR COMPLEXION DAILY MOISTURIZER. I’m only using this at night because it has no SPF protection. Luckily, it’s a perfect night moisturizer. It’s not so heavy that I worry I’ll stain my pillow cases. I wish this had some SPF protection because I would love it use it as my daily moisturizer.

Here are the details:

  • Helps prevent and clear up breakouts
  • Naturally evens out skin tone and texture
  • Oil-free and fast-absorbing
  • Won’t clog pores
  • Hypoallergenic and gentle enough for sensitive skin

Try these products yourself! Let me know what you think about them.

Are you ready for the summer?!

If you live in or near Chicago, you know that summer means the Taste of Chicago to many people. Where else can you get great food and great music all in one place? This year is extra special because you can also take care of your family at the same time you’re having fun! Transitions Optical, in cooperation with Visionworks, is offering free vision screenings for your and your family!

The Taste of Chicago runs July 11 to the 15th this year, and is open 11am until 9pm each day. The event takes place in Grant Park. The Taste of Chicago showcases the best restaurants in town and the best music. This year Jennifer Hudson, Death Cab for Cutie, and many other performers will appear.

Admission to the Taste is free, but you must purchase tickets for food. The number of tickets required for food ranges from 2-3 for a small sample to 9-10 for a large serving. Tickets are sold in packages of 12 for $8. They can be purchased before the event at all Dominick’s store in Illinois with a Fresh Values card for $7 per strip of 12 tickets. After July 10th, you can continue purchasing at Dominick’s for $8 a strip of 12, as long as supplies last.

While you’re taking in the gorgeous sights of the City of Chicago, take a moment to think about your eyes that allow you to see them. Without healthy eye sight, you couldn’t see the incredible skyline or the sparkling lake so big it seems to be the size of an ocean. You would miss the shore line with the boats docked or Navy Pier–who doesn’t want to see that giant ferris wheel?!

Take advantage of the opportunity being offered by Transitions Lenses and Visionworks, and get your vision checked. Bring the family to the Transitions Optical, Visionworks booth for an eye exam and the fun photo kiosk. Regular vision exams ensure the health and eye safety of every member of your family! Check out the Sight of the Day photo contest. Each photo entered adds another 25 cents to the Optometry Giving Sight fund.

In addition to checking your family’s eye health, you can also take the  Family Eye Promise. Each promise made during 2012 means another book is donated to Bess the Book Bus, bringing books and literacy to underprivileged children.

Here in KlineLand, we are sticklers for vision health. Because I take a medication that can cause eye damage, I get my eyes examined every six months. I’ve been wearing Transitions Lenses since I began wearing my glasses full time. No fumbling with sunglasses or clip ons for me! Jim also wears glasses with Transition Lenses and has for years.

This year Aaron started wearing glasses. He fought us for over a year about wearing them regularly, but knew he was beat when the school eye exams showed he needed vision correction. He finally gave in when I pointed out that the vision experts said he needed glasses and they had to know more than he does! After six months of regular wear, he now appreciates how much clearer his vision is!

I hope you can take care of some serious family business while enjoying the city of Chicago!

Check out Transitions on twitter and facebook!

I received compensation to participate in a SocialMoms and Transitions Optical blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own. To read more posts on this topic, click here.

There are forums where you can read about products, sex and politics, sexual health, and a ton of other things! There’s Sexis magazine that explores–what else!–sex! I’m excited about the photography group!

I’ve got a soft spot for Airwear lenses! And for people who wear glasses!

I’m getting in on the tail end of Four Eyes Pride Week (September 5-11), but there’s still plenty of time to celebrate!

If you don’t know anything about Airwear lenses, here’s some information:

Airwear lenses are thinner, lighter and more impact-resistant than standard plastic lenses while providing 100 percent UV protection. Airwear lenses are also made using environmentally conscious practices in packaging, water consumption and manufacturing waste re-use. To learn more about Airwear’s commitment to producing lighter, safer and greener eyewear for adults and children, visit LighterSaferGreener.com.

How do you celebrate glasses through the month of September? Airwear and Mary Engelbreit have teamed up and are asking parents to enter the “Breit Eyes” contest on Facebook. Post an original picture of your child being “lighter, safer, and greener” while wearing their glasses to be eligible to win great prizes: including an original Mary Engelbreit sketch of your child in the photograph!

Mary Engelbreit credits her glasses for opening her eyes for the first time. She says:

I was in second grade, loved to read, and was holding the books up so close that my parents knew it was time for glasses. Once I put on my first pair of glasses, I noticed new things, like individual leaves on trees and airplanes way up in the sky—things I had never seen before.

Plus, you can comment on this post and be entered into the drawing to receive an autographed Mary Engelbreit desk calendar! Winners will be drawn on Friday, September 16, 2011, at 5pm CST via random.org.

Good luck!

This post is sponsored by Airwear lenses. I received my own copy of the

Mary Engelbreit-autographed desk calendar.
