Another Result of Bloggy Boot Camp

One of the speakers at Bloggy Boot Camp Chicago was Cynthia Wheeler (aka @napwarden) who addressed the issue of blog design. She stressed white space…white space…white space.

As you can tell from the new blog design, I took her advice to heart.

I really loved the green blog, but more than one person has told me that they didn’t like it. It’s hard to get over a dislike of a color! I know–I still flinch at the color royal blue after my Catholic school uniforms!

But I’ve had the old design for a few years and felt like it was time for a change. I asked some trusted Twitter and real life friends to evaluate the blog and tossed a few logo designs past them. This is my interpretation of their advice.

What do you think? Does this blog design make you want to stay and peruse? Does it make you want to comment?

Blogging is a hard thing to do. For me, the writing is the easiest part. It’s getting readers to comment and engage that’s my struggle. If anyone has any suggestions for getting more comments and conversations going in my blog, that would be wonderful!

Be honest! Tell me what you like and what you don’t like! I’m open!

  1. I love the new blog layout. It is a lot more easier on the eyes. 🙂 I feel you on the fact that writing is easy, its HARD getting people to actually read, reply, and engage.Good luck, hopefully this change will make a difference!

  2. @tzenaki Thank you! I’m glad someone else feels like I do. I really envy those bloggers who have dialog running through their comments. I want conversations!

  4. Although my favorite color is green, I dig the new look!

For me, writing is not the easiest part. Laziness is the easiest part. I am *really* lazy. But when I do finally get around to posting, I always am excited to hear from all my web friends (including you), who are very patient with me.

  5. @alonewithcats Laziness (and fear) is why my novel is languishing on the floor of my bedroom (seriously!). Your posts are worth the wait though. Always hilarious. Always touching. I’m so happy when they show up in my mailbox!

I’m glad you like the makeover!

  6. Okay…..you know I am weird…..but I liked the old layout better. I feel like it was more “you”. But, hey, what do O know? I am dying to be a blogger and can’t get a design or have the guts to do the blogging!
