50 in 2014: The Chase by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg

50 in 2014 copyI started reading The Chase with some hesitation. You might remember that I wasn’t a fan of the inaugural book of the collaboration between Evanovich and Goldberg. Thankfully, the second installment of their partnership worked much better!

This is a fast-paced read, full of action and edge-of-your-seat thrills. There are even a few laughs. The sexual tension between O’Hare and Fox is there…and growing.

Kate O’Hare and Nick Fox are trying to exchange a real rooster for a fake rooster to avoid an international incident with the Chinese government. The rooster is a Chinese artifact that was stolen by Carter Grove, a former White House Chief of Staff, with a reputation for being ruthless and prepared for anything. O’Hare and Fox hatch a plan that appeals to Grove’s vanity. Just when they think they’ve succeeded, someone throws a wrench into their plans…

I’m looking forward to the third…and even more books in this series. Which is saying a lot since I didn’t want to even read this book!
