Let’s do a giveaway! Next week is my birthday! Thanks for asking, I’ll be 29! (Again…uh hum!) And it’s Mother’s Day!

I absolutely love sample boxes of products, don’t you? I’ve done several different types (health & beauty and fiber) and it’s such a thrill getting that box in the mail and tearing it open. I love seeing new products and old favorites.

The Conscious Box is especially wonderful because:

While Conscious Box strongly supports organic agriculture, not all products will be organic certified. This is because not all companies and the farms they work with have the resources to secure a certification. Fear not! Conscious Box has always discussed the ins and outs of trade, manufacturing, and production for each product we include. We hold our businesses to the highest standards, and only work with those who show true commitment to a healthy environment and ethical business practices.

Isn’t that wonderful? The Conscious Box brings us goodies from big and little companies. It’s a nice way for the smaller, family-owned conscientious businesses to get some of their products into our hands.

I like the idea of the Conscious Box bringing me natural, wholesome products each month. Like you, I’m constantly looking for things that are the best for myself and my family. I don’t want to fill our lives with unnecessary chemicals and unnecessary ingredients. The Conscious Box will give me a heads up on some of the products that just might work for all of us! There are even vegan and gluten-free options available. This way you won’t get items you can’t use!

How does the Conscious Box work? You can choose your own subscription length: by the month, quarter, half-year, and year. Each month the box is shipped (you’ll be notified and given a tracking number) and when your goodies arrive it will be like your birthday! Or Christmas! Or…well, you get the picture. Each month is $19.95, with discounts given for multi-month subscriptions.

What happens if you find something you really like? You can order it directly from Conscious Box. There’s even an opportunity for you to review products. I love sharing my opinion, how about you?

Please like Conscious Box on Facebook so you can stay in touch with this great company.

This giveaway is open to residents of the United States only. Please comment below to be entered to win until noon, May 12th, 2013, and will be announced on Monday, May 13, 2013. Good luck!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aveeno. All opinions are 100% mine.

Look at all the ways oatmeal can be used!

Since it’s National Oatmeal Day and Aveeno uses oatmeal in a lot of it’s products, I am giving away two packs of Aveeno products! Details for entering are at the end of the post!

I love oatmeal! In fact, I participated in a lively discussion on a mutual love of oatmeal on Facebook recently. Now I can enjoy my oatmeal and remember high school friends fondly as I do!

I love to eat my oatmeal with frozen blueberries, a splash of milk, and a dash of sugar. I don’t use instant oats, but I do cook them in the microwave. In addition to now thinking of high school friends, I also remember my Gramma Pfannenstiel who made us oatmeal when we stayed overnight. That steamy goodness sweeps me right back into her kitchen.

With my incredibly problem-prone skin, I appreciate the oatmeal in Aveeno products. It’s soothing and helps out tremendously. I’m so glad the Aveeno people thought about using oatmeal in their products!

How much do you love oatmeal? Any recipes to share? Has anyone tried cold oatmeal? I saw some recipes on Pinterest over the summer that had promise, but I never tried them!

Want to win a package of Aveeno products that utilize oatmeal? Comment below before Friday, November 2, 2012, at 5 pm to be entered into the drawing. I’ll draw two winners at that time! Sorry, the giveaway is open to residents of the United States and Canada only.

When I saw the post looking for reviewers of lined rubber gloves, I got super excited. I have really really dry skin–I can barely wash my hands without getting nasty dry hang nails! So the thought of a lined rubber glove struck me as wonderful. If you know my aversion to cleaning, you totally understand it would take a lot to get me excited about a rubber glove.

The rubber gloves I received are flock-lined. Flocking is a ground cotton material that is attached to the inside of the glove. It gives the inside of a rubber glove a smooth finish that pulls on easily and stays comfortable.

The worst thing about rubber gloves? Rubber touching my skin. The second worse thing? Rubber gloves sticking to my skin because my hands are sweating inside them. Thinking further about a lined glove, a really heavy lining would make your hands sweat even more! So the flock is perfect!

With the Flock-Lined Yellow Latex Gloves Magid® Comfort Flex® 620 neither of those annoying things happened. The gloves slide on, are comfortable to wear, and get the job done. I tackled dirty caulk in the bathroom using a natural cleanser of peroxide and baking soda. Nope, it didn’t get it all clean. But my hands didn’t get gross and crusty from getting so dry!

Here’s a description from the product website:

Magid’s Comfort Flex® 620 is a yellow latex glove, perfect for any household task. This style features an embossed finish, providing superior grip on wet or dry surfaces. The 620 is also fully liquid-proof, making it perfect when dealing with household chemicals, as well as certain mild abrasives. This glove comes with a flock lining that enables it to come on and off with ease. The Comfort Flex® 620 is a big step up from your average disposable, featuring .018 gauge thickness and 12″ length. Caution: products containing natural rubber latex may cause allergic reactions in some individuals.

  • Flock-lined latex glove
  • Embossed finish for fantastic grip
  • Stands up well to everyday chemicals
  • Comes on and off with ease
  • .018″ gauge thickness, 12″ long

Would you like to try these out? I was given a dozen of these so I could try them and review them. If you’d like to give them a shot, just comment below. I’ll send a pair to each of the first seven commenters! Good luck!

My compensation for this review was the free package of 12 Flock-Lined Yellow Latex Gloves Magid Comfort Flex 620. I was not given monetary compensation.

I was provided with a free sample of this product so that I might review it.

Right now I am obsessed with crows feet! I was at the movies and found myself distracted by the actors’ dessicated eye areas. I know, what a stupid thing to be obsessed with! It’s probably because I am beginning to get that crepe paper look around my eyes.

Just in time, Aveeno sent me a sample of their latest eye product: Positively Radiant Eye Illuminator.

The packaging is different than other eye creams I’ve tried. It comes in a cute pod and the product is applied to your eye area with a brush. Then you gently pat it or rub into your skin. I use my ring finger so I don’t rub to hard–aggravating those wrinkles even more! I read that tip somewhere…do you think it’s legitimate?

The Eye Illuminator joins the Positively Radiant line which contain formulas designed to improve the 5 Factors of Radiance:

  1. tone
  2. texture
  3. dullness
  4. blotchiness
  5. brown spots

Specifically, the Eye Illuminator:

  • Helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles around the eyes over time
  • Refreshes and hydrates the delicate eye area
  • Unique brush applicator delivers radiance directly where you need it
  • Contains Active Naturals Total Soy Complex, vitamin B3 and light diffusing technology to leave the area around your eyes fresh and luminous

I’ve been using this for a few weeks now and I think I’m seeing a difference! I really wish I had taken a before and after picture to be sure.

I know that immediately after applying the Eye Illuminator, my eyes do look brighter and they feel softer. I have a brown spot by my left eye and I’m watching it closely to see if it fades!

The product soaks in quickly and doesn’t leave me feeling like I’ve applied anything heavy. Which is a bonus. There’s nothing worse than walking around feeling like I’m wearing an inch-thick layer of eye cream! Plus it hasn’t bothered my super-sensitive skin in any way. That’s a big bonus!

I recommend this product. You can get your own Aveeno Positively Natural Eye Illuminator by commenting on this blog post. The deadline to enter is Friday, September 16, at 5pm CST. I will draw a winner with Random.org and will notify via email.

Good luck!

I am being compensated by Aveeno and Recyclebank for my support of this program. Aveeno has provided me with full-sized products for my personal use and to use as giveaways. They have provided the full-sized products to be given away this month. Any errors in communicating Aveeno or Recyclebank’s missions, products, or programs are on my part.

In my quest to be greener, I have been given a great opportunity! I (and other bloggers) are partnering with Aveeno and Recyclebank to bring you news about great Aveeno products and about recycling-encouraging Recyclebank.

Through webinars, I have learned how Aveeno develops their Active Naturals products. Who knew that there are thousands of natural elements out there that have the potential to be in an Aveeno product? The Aveeno labs work to find the best combination of natural and synthetic ingredients to bring the best skin care to us.

Recyclebank encourages us to recycle, by allotting points for the act of recycling! They are actively partnering with some communities recycling programs, so points can be earned by the weight of your recycling bin. I wish this was available in my community, but as of yet, it isn’t. Points can be used to for all kinds of things! The more points you earn the better rewards!

Aveeno and Recyclebank have combined their Earth-friendly goals through the pledge program running on the Aveeno Facebook page. You can be an Active Natural by taking monthly pledges. This month I am taking the pledge to educate people on cleaning the air and buying a houseplant. What are your pledges?!

Aveeno kicked off Earth Month by building a forest in Times Square. According to the press release:

AVEENO Creates an Educational, Green Oasis to Raise Environmental Awareness, Encourages Consumers to Take One Million Steps towards a Healthier, More Beautiful Earth in 2011

What can we do to create a more beautiful and healthier Earth? Again from the press release:

  • Planting a tree — In one year, one tree can turn 260 pounds of CO2 into clean oxygen
  • Switching out regular light bulbs for energy efficient ones — Energy efficient bulbs use about 75 percent less energy and can save an average household more than $40.00 a year on the electric bill
  • Using more sustainable forms of transportation, like carpooling or riding a bike to work; doing this one day a week, can reduce an individual’s annual CO2 emissions by eight percent

To kick this off with you, I am giving away a full-sized bottle of Aveeno’s Shampoo and a full-sized bottle of Conditioner for Color-Treated hair to one lucky winner. This is an easy giveaway. Simply comment below (make sure to include an email address where you can be reached if you win!). For a bonus entry, tweet using the #motherhootaveeno hashtag offering a green tip and linking to this post. I will draw the winner Friday, April 15, 2011, at 7pm CST.

Good luck!
