Seriously, can our elected officials get any more moronic? We would stand a better chance if we were being governed by apes. No wonder the animals eventually take over–because the humans are to stupid to survive!
What’s got my knickers in a twist today? This article about a coal activist accused of being a child pornographer. Poor Maria Gunnoe is a coal activist, trying to protect her community and the lives of the people. She’s been honored for her work.
She recently testified before the House Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources along with some of the people from her community. They went to tell stories about their dismal water sources, looking for help from the pollutants making their way into the water they use for daily use. I assume they drink this stuff.
Gunnoe brought along a photo of a little girl taking a bath in noxious looking water. Yuck! I couldn’t imagine letting my kids bathe in this stuff! But what if it was all we had? They have to get clean…
But the politicians in charge wouldn’t let her show the picture, only allowing pictures of inanimate objects ruined by pollution.
Instead of getting some reassurance that there would be some remedies for these people, Gunnoe was stopped at the door and accused of child pornography. Why?! Because the girl in the picture was naked. Taking a bath. Without her clothes on. In the tub.
The point of the photo was to demonstrate the horrid conditions these people are living in. Instead, that message was ignored and deflected with the charge of child pornography.
All I can say is that we are electing these people. We continue to elect people who value money and prestige more than they value the people they are supposed to be serving! They work for us! Not for the coal industry or the meat industry or the Koch brothers. We the American people need to demand that they start thinking of the people. We hold the power in our hands when it comes to elections.
This isn’t even about being Democratic or Republican, it’s about being responsible and serving the people, not the corporations.
