Did you see the guest post by MK Graff yesterday? You’ve got to check it out!

Nora Tierney, the heroine of MK Graff’s novel The Blue Virgin is unmarried, pregnant, attracted to the illustrator of the children’s books she’s writing, and attracted to the policeman investigating the murder her friend is accused of commiting. Wow, that’s a lot going on there!

I found the novel unusual in that the first chapter concentrates on the victim, not the heroine. I was paying close attention, expecting a long relationship (there’s another Nora Tierney novel coming up, The Green Remains), and then she’s dead! Who killed Bryn Wallace? Why did they kill her?

Was it Val Rogan, Nora’s friend and Bryn’s romantic partner? Was it an ex-model boyfriend? A neighborhood pedophile? The boy with the crush?

Nora is determined to find out who really murdered Bryn, coming head to head with Declan Barnes, the detective in charge of the investigation. He seems to have decided early on that Val is guilty. Nora wants to make sure he makes an effort to find the real killer. Neither wants to be attracted to the other.

There are several story lines intwined throughout the novel. I hope these characters make further appearances in what I hope is a long-running series featuring Nora Tierney, girl detective with the oh so complicated personal life.

Go ahead and check this one out. It’s fun spending time in Oxford learning the history while solving a crime!
